Performance/ AYDANİ gallery/ Baku
Azerbaijan, Baku “AYDANİ” Art Gallery 11 January 2026 Artist Aydan Mammadova’s live performance took place at “AYDANİ” Gallery as a private invitation-only event. In just twenty minutes, she created a monumental 2 × 3 meter painting, depicting a pomegranate in her distinctive artistic style. Before the audience’s eyes, a blank white canvas transformed into a vibrant composition filled with color, movement, and emotion. Golden tones evoke sunlight filtering through water, while the scattering pomegranate seeds capture a fleeting moment of motion and new life. Every color reflects the emotions shared by both the artist and the audience, making the creative process itself an essential part of the artwork.
Performance/ Today Art museum/ China
20 May 2026 Artist Aydan Mammadova’s live performance took place at Today Art Museum in Beijing, China. During the performance, she created a large-scale painting in her signature style, bringing together elements of traditional Chinese and Azerbaijani architecture beneath the symbolic image of a pomegranate. For the artist, the pomegranate represents the world, while its seeds symbolize people united through shared history and culture. Created primarily with her hands, the painting conveys exceptional energy, movement, and emotional expression. The performance became a symbol of cultural dialogue between Azerbaijan and China and was witnessed by diplomats, including ambassadors from five countries. Today, the artwork is part of the private collection of Today Art Museum.
Performace/ Azerbaijan Fashion Week/ Baku
In 2026, Aydan Mammadova was invited as an artist to Azerbaijan Fashion Week, organized by Sabina Agalarova and held at Sea Breeze in Baku. As part of the anniversary edition of the fashion week, Aydan presented a unique live art performance, creating a large-scale painting in real time on a 2 × 3 meter canvas. The live painting performance became part of the official opening of Azerbaijan Fashion Week 2026, bringing together art, fashion, and performance in one space. The artwork was created live during the event, transforming the act of painting into an independent artistic performance and marking the opening of the anniversary fashion week.
Digital animation
A painting by artist Aydan Mammadova was brought to life through digital animation by digital artist Sevil Karimova. The animation premiered at the opening of “AYDANİ” Gallery and was later presented at international exhibitions in Seoul, South Korea, and Beijing, China, including a screening at Today Art Museum. The project became a compelling example of the dialogue between traditional painting and contemporary digital art.
